Shout Out to a Friend
I've been working a lot more lately with Rohit Mehta. He's a good friend that I've had since high school meaning we've known each other for something like 21-22 years. He's the one that actually introduced me to my wife!
Concrete burns
As pool season kicks back into gear with Canada Day coming up, it reminds me of last fall when I was filming some pool construction.
VR, Escapes Rooms, and Painting!
My favourite gigs are the ones get to be myself and most people know I have a "youthful personality" (cough* immature cough*). Hopefully I get to do more with these wonderful young'ns.
Filming like a kid again!
The last time I filmed and worked at Wonderland was 10 years ago in 2016, so it was a nostalgic trip to come back and film here this summer.
Vocal cord nodules?
I had heard about vocal cord nodules from the movie "Pitch Perfect" about singers getting it and then their careers being at risk - I didn't realise it was something a regular joe like me would develop. It made it particularly difficult because my job is directing people on camera and teaching in the classroom; both of these require a lot of use of my throat and I was losing my voice on an almost daily basis for a while.
Abducted by UFOs!
This weekend I wanted to shoot a couple fun sci-fi portraits with UFOs and PORTALS to other dimensions.
Capturing fireworks!
I always enjoy it and going back at the end of the night to check the final results is like opening a fresh pack of pokemon cards and not knowing what you're going to pull!
Drone Flying Lessons
Last week I took a couple of my friends and future summer students on a bike ride and drone flying lesson to learn how to take photos using a drone!
Must resist urge to pet dogs.
Do you know how hard it is to fight the urge to pet the dogs while photographing and filming a SuperDogs show? IT'S REALLY HARD OKAY-THEYARESOCUTEOMG.
Filming burgers with The Works!
This is a little montage of just a small fraction of the shenanigans we got up to while working with this fantastic crew of peeps.
Sound recording, mixing, and mastering
Audio is super overlooked compared to visuals but the truth is, higher level audio production makes a bigger difference in our subliminal feeling of production value and quality than better visuals. Don't cheap out on audio! It's part of digital content production!
Hiring my mom.
How many other people can hire their mom and aunt for a last minute client shoot and then just end up hanging out their mom all day? I can. And I did.
Photography Class Fit Check
If I need to walk around in a Dumbledore beard and top hat for them to remember this class, smile, and dust off that camera on the shelf... then by golly, I'll wear that annoying beard every day.
Bow and Arrows and Rock Climbing at Work?!
More behind-the-scenes of us working a few weeks ago on a super fun shoot! Any time I get to rock climb or shoot a bow and arrow on the job is a good day.
The student becomes the teacher.
We were asked to be interviewed a few weeks ago to tell the story of our serendipity and I snapped this shot before Jen's interview telling everyone what a harsh and brutal teacher I am (kidding!).
Commercial Video BTS
Last week I posted the commercial ad we produced and here is the behind-the-scenes on how we went about creating it!
Wide Eyed Energy Commercial
Lately I've been itching to create a high quality commercial so we created this spec ad featuring @wideeyedenergy and @collectivebrew.
Petting a cockroach and feeding a tortoise for work.
Here's another behind-the-scenes look at me at work. It must be so boring, right?! ... No. Never at my job.
Jumping off a 2-story pillar for a shot
I didn't expect to have to jump off a 2-story pillar but here we are. Another week of behind-the-scenes (BTS) from a recent shoot.
Making a physical album!
This past fall we shot a beautiful wedding and the couple wanted up to compile some of our favourite shots to put together into a coffee table book. So with the help of my partner Vicki, we designed this album.
