Guest Instructor at Appleby College
A couple weeks ago I was invited to be a guest photography instructor for Appleby College's Communications Technology class giving insights to the students about the decision-making process that goes through every detail of my portrait photography. This included elements beyond just camera settings: location, lighting, posing, wardrobe, composition, storytelling... There is so much more that goes through a photographer's mind before clicking the shutter button than what aperture I should be shooting at.
This was such a fun lesson to get to know the students and be a part of the journey for a young generation of future artists. They even signed a card for me at the end of the class which was a really kind gesture.
As someone who went to teacher's college and has a degree in education as well as digital media, my true passion is merging education and art and teaching photography or filmmaking fills my cup every time. Thank you to Appleby for having me and I hope this is just the first of many lessons to come
