Peel Regional Police Photography Training
This summer I had the opportunity to participate in the surveillance photography training of the Peel Regional Police. I helped to teach police officers how to operate their cameras and best practices for complex situations like night surveillance and shooting through reflective surfaces like windshields.
So I can't SHOW you for obvious security and safety reasons so here is a photo of me on my way out the door to go there. No one is stopping me from showing you my mediocre face at least.
Anyway, it was a very interesting juxtaposition teaching a purely functional and operational style of photography comparatively to the more creative style I teach at Sheridan College.
It took all my willpower to not say to the police officers, "Sure, you got a clean photo of the perp grabbing contraband from the trunk of his car, but have you considered bringing in a beauty dish so we can get his eyes to sparkle?"
